Privacy Policy

Lock In helps you protect focused time, grow virtual trees, track progress, and focus with friends. This policy explains what information Lock In collects, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Lock In mobile application and the services that support it (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described below.

2. Information We Collect

Account and contact information

When you create or use an account, we may collect your display name, email address, authentication provider information, and an account identifier. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide your name and an email address, including a private relay address if you choose to hide your email.

Profile and social information

We collect the profile name and emoji avatar you choose, your friend connections, friend requests, privacy preferences, invitations, join requests, reactions, likes, leaderboard participation, activity-feed events, and related social interactions.

Focus and game-like progress

We collect information needed to provide and synchronize the Service, including focus-session timing and status, tree records and custom tree names, XP, coins, streaks, unlocked seeds, virtual transaction history, rankings, rewards, and Together Lock In room and participation records.

Device, notification, and technical information

We collect an app-generated device identifier for session security and single-device account coordination. If you enable notifications, we collect notification registration tokens. Our service providers may also process device model, language, time zone, operating-system version, app identifier and version, IP address, SDK user-agent information, and limited diagnostic metadata needed to deliver, secure, maintain, and improve their services.

Information stored only on your device

Your task titles, task notes, due dates, and task reminders are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our Firebase database. Lock In uses Apple Screen Time frameworks to apply restrictions during a focus session. Lock In does not collect your browsing history or a list of the apps or websites you use.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain account and Service data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the Service. We may retain limited information for a reasonable period when necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or enforcement. Backup copies may remain for a limited period before being deleted or overwritten in accordance with our service providers’ practices.

You may initiate deletion of your account and associated personal information from Settings in the app, or request deletion by contacting us at lockinapp.support@gmail.com. We may ask you to verify account ownership before completing a deletion request. Some information may be retained when required by law or for legitimate security purposes.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. Data transmitted to Firebase services is encrypted in transit, and supported Firebase services encrypt data at rest. No security method is completely reliable, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Lock In and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms and contractual protections for international data transfers.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date on this page and provide additional notice when required. Your continued use of the Service after an update is subject to the revised policy.
